Life as a second semester freshman

Hey everyone... I know I haven't written in a few months... ugh! I have been really busy with school and things...

I have been really working really hard to get my GPA up so I can take some DLP classes this summer... But um. lets see. What have I been up to? Hmmm.. I guess a lot has happened. I am doing much better in classes this semester- Getting some time management skills down, studying hardcore, and working ahead so that I can have social time. :) I think the hardest class is Humanities because it's a really pointless class and so boring, and I am not really learning anything, but I will do my best in class... My favorite class is INFT(computer class) - I seriously love this class because it's the easiest class, for me anyways... Haha!

I have been meeting some new people here and there... I love it! I go to the gym just about everyday with one of my bestest, Ellen! I love her. She has become one of my good friends- I could seriously tell her anything. Hehe. Kelly has been planning her wedding so she has been leaving every weekend to go home and see her family and get ready for the wedding. It's on March 10th! Her wedding means that Spring Break is coming up soon. Yesss!!!

I have been thinking about taking DLP classes over the summer. DLP stands for Distance Learning Program. This means that I can take classes over the summer online. I have to have a GPA of 2.0, which I do not have yet, but I can get special permission and I might be able too! The sessions last for 8 weeks and there are two of them over the summer.... I want to Psychology 101, 210, Math 121, Evangelism 101, and Theology. I do not want to take both the Psyc classes in the same 8 week period, so I'm going to take one of them along with the Theology and Evangelism class and then take the other classes the next session. The first session starts on April 30, which means that I will still be in school and have to deal with my regular classes, but I figured I will be in the DLP classes for about 3 weeks so that will give me enough time to adjust to those and still do well on my finals...

Changes

Well, it's been a while since I've written on this so here I go...
November was exciting- I went to Jaimie's house for a couple of days and from there we would go to NYC... I went to NYC with some of my quadmates, which was exciting. I saw Times Square, Empire State Building, Hard Rock Cafe and ground zero. I think Times squares was the most exciting because I guess I had imagined something totally different. I mean it was chaotic and very noisy, but for the most part the people were very nice to us. We were lost more then a few times... :-) I badly want to go again so I can enjoy more of the city and next time I'll have more money (wink wink) For Thanksgiving I went to Aunt Delissa's house in Boston. That was fun- I finally got to unpack my suitcase... Oh and during Thanksgiving, I got a boyfriend, but thats not important because he's a jerk...:-(

December has been equally exciting because it was my birthday and finals have been going on as well... For my birthday, the girls in my quad surprised me with birthday princess hats and we wore them to convo- good times. I had no idea why people were starring at us. ;) Then, they got me cake, even though I dont like cake it was the thought that counted. They also got me the book "Message in the bottle" and a mug from Barnes and Noble... This past week we had finals... Not to exciting, but Im done with them so now I'm just waiting to go home. Oh, On Sunday, I had my first kiss.... :-)

Some other good news, Katty from Haiti has officially left. She found an apartment nearby that she will be staying at over break and for the rest of the year- She isnt going home, she has to work. And we wont be getting another roomate next semester either. Yay.... DeAndrea gets a room all to herself- She is very excited.

Well... I'll be home on Friday, so if I think of anything else I guess everyone will have to wait until I get back...

What a month...

This past month, I have been dealing with tons of emotions... I have not been getting an adequate amount of sleep, I have to get my classes aligned for next semester, I have had 9 quizzes/ tests that I have had to study for, and I have three more to go, I am sore from playing basketball. This month has brought many struggles...

On the whole sleep issue, I have been averaging about 5-6 hours of sleep a night, and I should be getting about 8-9... But oh well, I cant help that I chose 7:50 classes... Next semester I am not scheduling any early morning classes. I have been taking a nap every once in a while, but that does not seem to help. Oh, and I think that my mattress is making my back hurt so much- It's not hard enough... (Thought I's just throw that in)

November 6, I have to go see my adviosor to go make sure that I am taking all the right classes for next semester. That same day, I have to sign up for them. I have to take this computer class because I did not pass the computer assesment- that stinks!

This month I have a total of 12 quizzes/tests... I had midterms the week of the 9th and then I had 2 quizzes and one test the following week, 2 quizzes the next and next week I have 2 quizzes and a test. This month is like quiz/test month.

I have been playing basketball a lot the past couple of days and am sore... I Then the rest of the times, I have just been practing shooting. I have also been going to some of the guys intramural basketball games as well. Good times!

I have really been thinking about going to Rome for the past couple of weeks. One of my quadmates and I would like to go study abroad there for a semester. We were thinking about going next fall. I feel that would a country full of history and great place to study. I also feel that I would learn more about the culture and have a greater appreciation for history. I just ask the people would pray for me and show me where God wants me to go with this. :)

College life

News is coming from the desk of Riz...

I have been in college now for a month AND am having tons of fun too! I have been studying like crazy and getting decent grades, but I know that I can do better. I will- promise!! School is so much fun. Our brother dorm is great and to my surprise their is a guy from Tacoma. I have met lots of cool people. The sports are great too!

My classes are getting better. I had my first math test on Monday and another GNED test on Wednesday. Not to fun, but I did ok on them. Bible has been going better. I am really getting better at understanding the bible. Last week we watched " The Gospel of John," which was really good. It was like "The Passion of the Christ," but a little less graphic. Psychology is going well. I enjoy this class. On the fourth, I took a career direct test to see what careers I could go into to and my top three were Athletics, Counseling and writing. I really think that God is putting it on my heart to be a counselor, which I am excited about because I love helping people. I am not sure what kind of counselor, but I do not have to figure that out until later. I would like to do something in writing as well. Math is going surprisingly well... I have been doing really well in that class. Getting A's and B's on homework and quizzes. Doing better then expected. English is going well too. My first essay was due on the fifth, I believe and I got a "B." I am taking that class online.

There was a football game on the ninth which was exciting. My first one... We won by a lot. Next game I am going to paint my face red... I think! There was a Hockey game on the 22nd, which was awesome. We were playing the University of Maryland and we beat them 10-2. There was a lot of fights which was really exciting. The best part! One guy on the other team got kicked out of the game and one of our fans got kicked out as well. Intense!

Anyways, I am having lots of fun, but I miss my family. At least I have David and Tiffany. Oh our dorm is addicted to "Without a Trace." Looking for season two. (wink wink) loves. Clarisssa

My first day of class

Wednesday was my first official day of class. It went pretty well. My first class is at 7:50 and it was math, which sucks. Math was kind of boring, but I had homework on the first day. ewww... My second class was at 8:50 and its called Contemporary issues. My teacher was so funny. It seems like a fun class, but I have a quiz over the syllabus tomorrow. After that class was convocation which is mandatory. After convo I had English at 12:25. The teacher was so nice. She tried to make the class fun. It wasn't awkward. This is my favorite class.
Today I took three different classes and they didn't go as smoothly as the classes yesterday. First of all my alarm didn't go off and then I had to walk 20 minutes to class in the heat. My first class, psychology was at 9:20 and it was only 20 minutes long because the teacher didn't really have anything to say which was a breath of fresh air. Since the class was only 20 minutes, my friends and I went to the cafe and had some coffee and I saw my cousin. Then my next class, Bible, was at 10:50. Oh my gosh! There is so much stuff to do for this class. Good grief. The teacher was really nice, but there is so much work. I have to memorize practically the whole New testament and then some. Ergg. My next class was right after and in the same room so I didn't have to move. This is an Evangelism class which I wasn't looking to forward too because I didn't really know what to expect. The teacher was really outgoing, but the class itself, uck! I dropped that class and am taking 14 credits, but I feel that will be better and I wont feel as stressed out.
Well that was my day... Hope tomorrow goes better. I have two short quizes. Pray for me. Loves. Clarissa
